BEMIDJI — Five players lit the lamp for River Lakes as the Stars captured an opening-night, 5-3 girls hockey victory over the Bemidji Lumberjacks.
Olivia Haines and Kianna Roeske each collected first-period goals before Brielle Cremers and Aubrey Griffin added scores in the second.
With just over five minutes remaining in regulation, the visitors clung to a 4-3 lead in the third when Jordyn Bebus gave the Stars breathing room with an unassisted goal.
River Lakes outshot the Lumberjacks 50-11.
The Stars host Fergus Falls at 3 p.m. Saturday in Richmond.
