NEW LONDON — New London-Spicer’s Ciera Anderson won the all-around, but it was Melrose that came away with the team win by a single point over the host Wildcats on Tuesday, 139.075-138.075.
Taking first place in the uneven bars (9.05) and balance beam (9.425), Anderson ended up with an all-around score of 35.95. Melrose’s Courtney Althaus was second in the all-around at 35.575.
Lili Sampson got the win at vault for the Wildcats with a 9.225, followed by teammate Morgan Schwandt’s 9.05 for second. Ashlyn Olson was second on the floor exercise with a 9.3.
“The girls had a good night,” said NLS head coach Cindy Jacobson. “We have raised our score two more points but we still left a lot of points out there. We had one good routine on each event but still had some falls on each event.
“I’m so excited to see where we can be when this team hits all of their routines. We have so much depth but we still need a lot of work to finish these routines. I know it will be a great score when we do.”
