GRANITE FALLS — Nearly hitting the 50-point mark in the first half, Montevideo’s offense shined in a 79-67 non-conference girls basketball win over Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday night.
Thunder Hawks sophomore Avery Koenen passed 1,000 career points after dropping a game-high 30 points. She also had eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks.
Three other Montevideo players — Livia Gades (15), Hailey Dirksen (13) and Tenley Epema (11) — finished in double figures. The Thunder Hawks also hit 13 3-pointers, with Gades drilling five shots from the perimeter.
Ruby Bones paced the Sting with 17 points along with four assists. Stella Schuler (16), Hannah Stark (14), Madelynn Luft (10) and Shelby Mortenson (10) all scored in double figures, with Mortenson also ripping down eight rebounds and blocking four shots.

Montevideo is scheduled to close out the regular season Friday at Melrose. YME finishes regular-season play against Dawson-Boyd at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Granite Falls.
