BELGRADE — It was a good Saturday for the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling team.
BBE went 2-0 in its own triangular, beating BOLD 70-12 and Thief River Falls 48-30.
The Thief River Falls victory was especially notable because the Prowlers are state-ranked in a high class than BBE. Thief River Falls is ranked ninth in Class AA. The Jaguars are ranked second in Class A.
Against BOLD, the Jaguars got pins from Tanner Veisman (113 pounds), Ryan Jensen (126), Blaine Fischer (145), Dylan T. Kampsen (160), Talen Kampsen (170) and Cooper Wold (182).
BOLD’s victories were by Tanner Kautz at 106 and Tim Peppel at 285. Both were pins. Peppel is ranked fifth in the state in Class A.

BBE next wrestles at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Frazee triangular. Also competing is Lake Park-Audubon. BOLD is scheduled to host Sauk Centre/Melrose on Friday in a rescheduled match in Olivia.

BBE, ranked second in Class A, knocked off Thief River Falls, the No. 9 team in Class AA, at Belgrade.
The match of the dual may have come at 145. The Jaguars’ Blaine Fischer, a junior ranked third in the state in Class A, wrestled the Prowlers’ Griffin Lundeen, a freshman ranked seventh in Class AA at 138. Fischer beat Lundeen 2-0.
At 152, Thief River Falls’ Brady Kasprick, a junior ranked fifth in AA at 145, beat BBE’s Maximus Hanson,a freshman ranked No. 8 at 152. Kasprick won by fall in 1:38.
