WILLMAR — Starting the final weekend series of the regular season, the Willmar WarHawks’ offense was on full display Friday.
Hosting the Wausau RiverWolves at the Willmar Civic Center, the WarHawks scored six straight goals en route to a 6-1 NA3HL victory.
Christopher Drews scored his first of two goals at the 3-minute, 42-second mark of the first period off assists from Jake Santarelli and Marquez Ginger. Forty-one seconds later, Willmar made it a 2-0 game with Brandon Holt’s 16th goal of the year, with assists from Eli Slagter and Dylan Svoboda. Ginger added the WarHawks’ final goal of the first period.
It took just 24 seconds into the second period for Willmar to get back on the board with Drew’s second tally. Svoboda capped off the WarHawks’ scoring with goals at 6:04 and 11:03 before the RiverWolves put up their first goal with 32 seconds to play in the second.
In net, Lukas Haugen stopped 31 of 32 shots for Willmar, which moves to 18-24-2-2 on the year
The two teams will meet in the regular-season finale at 7:30 p.m. Saturday back at the Civic Center.
