Honkers snap Stingers' win streak at 4

WILLMAR -- The Rochester Honkers struck late twice to tip the Willmar Stingers in 10 innings 7-6 and end the Stingers four-game winning streak on Monday.

WILLMAR -- The Rochester Honkers struck late twice to tip the Willmar Stingers in 10 innings 7-6 and end the Stingers four-game winning streak on Monday.

Five homers cleared the fence at Baker Field with just under 900 at Bill Taunton Stadium. One of those was a solo shot by Matt Beyer in the ninth inning to tie the score 6-6.

Designated hitter Bryan Karraker singled in the winning run in the top of the tenth of Jason West, the sixth Stinger to pitch.

Third-baseman Jake Stinnett paced the Stingers by hitting two home runs and driving in four. He also had an RBI single in the third to open the Willmar scoring.

Stingers (7-6) led in the bottom of the ninth 6-5 before Beyer's home run off Kurt Spomer to tie the game.

Willmar outhit Rochester (5-8) 10-8.

The Stingers to Mankato to take on the MoonDogs tonight at Franklin Rogers Park.

The Stingers return home on Wednesday for a 7:05 p.m. game with the MoonDogs.
