Stephen P. Inglis was born in Redwood Falls and graduated from there in 1936. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45, Inglis returned to Redwood Falls and reopened his father's dental practice.

He was an avid supporter of the school, sports and the community. He served six years on the school board at Redwood Falls (now Redwood Valley).

It was rare to not see Inglis at a sporting event in Redwood Falls.

He continued his support of education and athletics until his death in 2002 at age 83.

Before his death, Inglis donated land to the school to be used for athletic endeavors. The school now has a track and field complex in his name and the land also houses the football field, a cross-country course, a 300-yard driving range and an 18-hole disc golf course. Because Inglis was an avid golfer, his only stipulation when donating the land was that a driving range must be included.
