Jaguars win seesaw match against NLS

BROOTEN -- Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and New London-Spicer battled back and forth in front of a packed BBE Elementary School crowd Tuesday, pushing the non-conference match to a fifth set.

BROOTEN - Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and New London-Spicer battled back and forth in front of a packed BBE Elementary School crowd Tuesday, pushing the non-conference match to a fifth set.

In front of their home crowd, the Jaguars were finally able to put the Wildcats away, winning 25-20, 26-28, 25-17, 23-25, 15-9.

Karsee Kampsen helped four BBE hitters to double-digit kills, finishing the night with 52 set assists along with nine digs, three kills and an ace serve. Ally Gruber had a team-best 17 kills, along with 15 from Emily Knight and 14 apiece from Brittany Berge and Katherine Mastey.

Winners of nine straight, BBE heads to Kimball on Thursday. NLS returns home Thursday to face Glencoe-Silver Lake.

With a four-set win over Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg broke past the .500 mark in the Camden Conference, moving to 4-3.

Lydia Wagner had a Saints-best 11 kills along with two ace blocks. Mallory Rudningen had 33 set assists, and Katie Krieger rounded out KMS' efforts with 21 digs.

The Thunder Hawks rallied from a 2-1 deficit to top the Tigers, using a critical 25-14 victory in the fourth game to set up a decisive fifth set.

Noelle Sulflow finished with a match-high 38 set assists and Cali Christianson added 16 kills and 30 digs to help offensively and defensively.

Alexis Pew led the Tigers with 13 kills.
