WILLMAR — Riley Johnson drove in three runs and three Willmar pitchers squelched Rochester’s offense in the Stingers’ 4-2 victory on Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Johnson singled in the Stingers’ first run in the sixth inning and Daniel Walsh drove in a second run with a sacrifice fly.
In the eighth inning, Brennan McKenzie singled and moved up on Tyler Bosetti’s walk. They both moved up on Chase Stanke’s groundout and Johnson followed with a two-run, ground-rule double.
Trevor Divinski allowed just a run on four hits and struck out seven in seven innings to get the win. Joel Cheatwood and Aldo Fernandez both worked an inning, with Fernandez getting the save.
The Stingers hit the road to play the Honkers in a two-game set in Rochester on Saturday and Sunday, then return home to play Mankato on Monday and Tuesday.

Five runs in the sixth inning — all unearned — got New London-Spicer back in the game and the Twins scored the tying and winning runs in the eighth inning against Bird Island on Friday.
John Perkins doubled and drove in three runs and Josh Soine had three hits, an RBI and scored two runs.
Bird Island’s Jack Peppel homered and drove in three runs.
