Junior Hockey: Alexandria Blizzard storm past Willmar WarHawks

Blizzard grab a big lead to beat Willmar 9-2 in an NA3HL game at the Runestone Community Center

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Blizzard made quick work of the Willmar WarHawks with a 9-2 NA3HL victory on Wednesday night.

Sean Kenny had a hat trick for the Blizzard, who also got two goals and four assists from Ryan Hadland before 769 fans at the Runestone Community Center.

Alexandria built a 7-0 lead before Willmar’s Connor Cardia scored his fifth goal of the season at 15:29 of the second period on the power play.

Brayden Buckingham also scored for the WarHawks, getting his sixth goal of the season at 10:50 of the third period, also on the power play.

Willmar has a two-game home series with the Mason City Toros beginning at 7:10 p.m. Friday at the Willmar Civic Center Arena. The teams also play at 7:10 p.m. Saturday.
