WILLMAR — The Willmar WarHawks had their three-game win streak snapped after a 4-2 loss to Granite City on Friday from the Willmar Civic Center.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined for five goals in the second.

Willmar’s Ethan Light opened the scoring 3 minutes, 22 seconds into the second period after assists from Dylan Gajewski and Tanner Hall. The Lumberjacks put in the next three goals on scores from Tal Halliday, Nicholas Richert and Hanson O’Leary. With 1:15 left in the period, the WarHawks cut the deficit to 3-2 when Owen Thomas and Jack Willis delivered helpers on a Michael Sweetland power-play goal.

The visitors created breathing room after Kyle Mortenson scored with 6:02 remaining in regulation.

Bailey Huber earned the victory in net with 25 saves. Willmar netminder Cooper Olson stopped 33 stops.
