Junior Hockey: WarHawks dominate Blizzard

Willmar beats Alexandria 10-2 in its home-opener Saturday in an NA3HL game.

WILLMAR — The Willmar WarHawks junior hockey team enjoyed a dominant home-opener Saturday night, beating the Alexandria Blizzard 10-2.

Jeremiah Konkel and Collin Kerchoff each scored two goals and Brady O’Brien had a goal and four assists for Willmar (3-1). The announced attendance was 500 at the Willmar Civic Center Area.

Konkel also had four assists. He’s a forward from Bloomington who played for Willmar last season.

Kerchoff is a forward from White Lake, Wisconsin. He played five games for the Chippewa Steel in the NAHL in 2019-20.

O’Brien is a defenseman from White Bear Lake.

Willmar is host to the New Ulm Steel at 7:10 p.m. Friday. The WarHawks then play at 7:10 p.m. Saturday against Alexandria (0-4) at the Runestone Community Center.
