KMS Fighting Saints KO Big Lake late

Saints win final four matches to win by one point Thursday

LITCHFIELD — Trailing 36-13 with four matches to go, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg found a way to surge back.

Taking advantage of forfeits at 182 and 220 pounds, the Fighting Saints pulled off the 37-36 upset over Big Lake thanks to pins by Marc Collins (195) and Jason Jones (285) at Thursday’s Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield quadrangular at Litchfield High School.

Collins stuck Riley Mullen in 4 minutes, 38 seconds while Jones’ fall came in 57 seconds.

Will Magaard also picked up a pin at 138 while Rick Jones got his 75th win via forfeit at 182.

KMS 42, EV-W 31

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg won its second match on Thursday as a 18-0 lead to start the match led to a victory over Eden Valley-Watkins.

Tanner Wilts (120 pounds), Rick Jones (182) and Marc Collins (195) each won by pin for the Fighting Saints.

Picking up a win by forfeit at 145 pounds, KMS senior Will Magaard got his 200th career win. He becomes the third Fighting Saint to reach the 200-win mark, joining Kevin Steinhaus (246-12) and Zach Carlson (201-34), according to The Guillotine.

Host Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield was perfect at its home quadrangular on Thursday with wins over Big Lake (49-18), Eden Valley-Watkins (52-15) and Delano (51-21).
