WILLMAR — After two previous top-fives and three top-10 finishes, Pennock’s Shawn Fernkes found himself atop the podium Thursday night.

Racing in the WISSOTA Super Stock division Thursday at KRA Speedway, Fernkes got his first win of the season in the 14-car field. Becker’s Dexton Koch, who leads the Super Stock division with two wins, took second place while points leader Zach Schultz, of Grove City, was third.

Then in a battle of Grove City racers in the Pure Stock Division, Bruce Laabs got the last laugh.

Earlier in the evening, Laabs took second in his heat to fellow Grove City driver, Jordan Frericks. But in the feature race, Laabs was able to take the checkered flag from Frericks, who placed second.
