ST. JOSEPH -- A strong first half from College of Saint Benedict allowed the Blazers to hand Ridgewater its first loss Tuesday as the Lady Warriors fell 61-45 in a women's college basketball game.
The Blazers led 39-20 at halftime en route to handing the Lady Warriors their first loss in three games this season. Ridgewater did get within seven in the second half before the Blazers closed out the game with a run.
Hannah Smith had 13 points while Whitley Strei and Kelsey Guetter added 10 each for Ridgewater. Smith and Strei also made a pair of three-pointers each.
Brianna Berrett led the Blazers with 15 points. Beka Schwendemann, a 2010 graduate of Montevideo High School, added eight points with the help of two 3-pointers.
The Lady Warriors' next game is Friday at home when they play Mesabi Range at 6 p.m. in the Ridgewater Classic.
