Lady Warriors win again

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater women's basketball team won its third straight game with a 78-68 win over Fergus Falls in MCAC Southern Division action Monday.

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater women's basketball team won its third straight game with a 78-68 win over Fergus Falls in MCAC Southern Division action Monday.

The game was a makeup from Jan. 7.

A balanced scoring attack with six players in double figures helped the Lady Warriors (3-1, 9-6) overcome a slow start in which they shot 28 percent (11 of 39) from the field in the first half.

Whitley Strei led the way with 17 points, followed by Sara Beyer with 12. Hannah Smith, Jena Thompson and Brianna Jacobson had 11 points apiece and Kelsey Guetter turned in 10 points.

Another key for Ridgewater was 33 trips to the foul line.

"We're getting to the line, but we have to be able to slow down and run our offense," said Ridgewater coach Carrie Ogdahl.

Smith pulled down 10 of the Lady Warriors' 59 rebounds and Thompson had nine.

Whitney Moore scored 17 points to lead Fergus Falls and Kendra Stokes had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Morris native Heather Gagner, a sophomore, had two rebounds and Whitney Swenson, a sophomore from Granite Falls, had four boards.
