MONTEVIDEO -- Matt Geislinger, who is headed to Kansas to play JUCO baseball, started the Legion postseason in the same impressive fashion he finished the Class A high school tournament as the tournament MVP playing for the state champions.
The Eden Valley-Watkins left-hander pitched an eight-hitter with 12 strikeouts to defeat Madison Legion Post 158 7-3 in Thursday's late game at the Montevideo ballpark.
Geislinger also doubled and singled, driving in three runs. On the hill, he didn't allow a run until Madison scored three times in the bottom of the seventh, all unearned.
In their last chance, Madison had the bases loaded with two outs. An error at third allowed one run to score and then Jacob Redepenning swatted a two-run single to make it 7-3.
Geislinger ended the threat and the game with his 12th punchout.

Geisingler's two-run double off Brandon Bornhorst made it 2-0 in the second. Brendon Ashton belted a two-run double in the fifth followed by Jon Boutch's run-scoring single help produce a four-run inning.
Bornhorst went five innings, allowing seven hits, walking two and fanning five.
Redepenning also tripled. Brothers Sam and Seth Haas at the front of the batting order were a combined 2-for-7 facing Geisingler.
