SACRED HEART - BOLD and Sacred Heart/MACCRAY combined for just nine hits - all singles - and three unearned runs as the Scarlets edged the Mudhens 2-1 on Thursday.

After a double steal that moved the Scarlets’ Collin Thompson and Carter Asche to second and third, BOLD committed an error with two outs that allowed both to score and give SHM (2-6) a 2-1 lead. That’s all Ethan Thein needed to earn the win as the righthander struck out three and gave up five hits and three walks in a complete-game performance.

BOLD (4-8) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Lane Stadther scored on an Austin Weis groundout.

Logan Nissen had two hits for the Mudhens and Ben Steffel was the hard-luck loser after striking out six and scattering four hits in six innings of work.

BOLD hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Monday and Sacred Heart/MACCRAY hosts Granite Falls on Thursday.
