LITCHFIELD - Bryan Weidemann worked a solid game and Willmar Legion Post 167 defeated Litchfield 4-1 on Friday at Optimist Park.

Weidemann got all but the final out, allowing a run on six hits. He walked three and struck out three. Brady Bauman struck out the only batter he faced to get the save.

Willmar's Tanner Bauman had two hits, including a double, and Caleb Owens drove in two runs without the benefit of a hit. Caleb Ditmarson had a hit and an RBI and A.J. Backes singled and scored two runs.

Litchfield's Joe Pennertz singled in Max Tibbits for his team's lone run in the third inning.

Jackson Snell had three hits and threw a complete game to push Montevideo to a win in its home tournament over Sacred Heart/MACCRAY, 4-2.

Snell had three of Post 59's hits while scoring twice. On the mound, he allowed no earned runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.

For Sacred Heart/MACCRAY, Eli Aker was 1-for-3 with a run while Corbin Wohlman added a double for Post 229.

Also in the tournament, New London-Spicer defeated Granite Falls 12-0 in five innings. Statistics were not available at press time.

Willmar survived five errors behind Dalton Ogdahl's strong outing and Post 1639 won the second of its two Pool C games at the Junior Classic Tournament on Friday in New Ulm.

Willmar scored two runs in the first and added another run in the sixth. That was plenty for Ogdahl, who two-hit Maple Grove and struck out five. He also had two hits.

Jett Salonek singled, drove in a run and scored a run and Zach Schultz had an RBI. Hunter Magnuson had two hits and scored a run and Dylan Arndorfer and Andrew Baumgart had Willmar's other hits.

Post 1639 wraps up pool play against Sleepy Eye at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Willmar broke open a close game with a six-run seventh and defeated Wayzata in Post 1639's opening Pool C game in the Junior Classic VFW Tournament in New Ulm.

Willmar's Andrew Baumgart had three hits and drove in a run, and he worked five-plus innings to get the win.

Dylan Arndorfer had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice and Hunter Magnuson had two hits and drove in a pair. Dalton Ogdahl singled and drove in two runs and Chase Dirksen had two hits and drove in a run.

Bismarck put a scare into Willmar in the ninth inning but the Stingers got out of the jam to defeat the Larks and reclaim first place in the Great Plains West division on Friday night at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.

Willmar led by a run entering the bottom of the eighth and padded the lead with two runs in their half of the inning. In the ninth, the Larks loaded the bases on a hit-by-pitch, a single and a walk. But reliever Aldo Fernandez got a ground out to end the game.

The Stingers' win and St. Cloud's loss to Waterloo jumped Willmar ahead of the Rox by a half game.

The Stingers travel to La Crosse for games on Saturday and Sunday before returning home to face the Larks again on Monday and Tuesday.

On Friday, Bismarck scored a run in the second but Willmar took the lead with a two-run fourth. Tyler Bosetti singled and John Trousdale followed with a double. Bosetti scored on a wild pitch and Trousdale scored on Andrew Lucas' single.

The Stingers added a run in the fifth when Daniel Walsh singled, stole second and then took third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch.

In the sixth, Trousdale walked, moved up on an error, took third on a balk and scored on Walsh's bases-loaded single.

Bismarck scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but Walsh doubled in Sam Baier and later scored on an error in the bottom of the eighth to put the Stingers up three runs.

Sparked by a three-run home run by Jake Rambow, New London-Spicer exploded for nine runs in the top of the second inning to pull away from Atwater for a 13-2 County Line League win on Friday.

Jake finished the day 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs while teammate Mike Danielson was 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Adam Schrader, Wyatt White and Josh Soine all had two hits apiece for the Twins.

Both of the Chuckers' runs came in the first inning after an RBI double from Josh Cunningham and a run scored on a groundout. Cunningham finished the night 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Cold Spring's Zach Femrite flirted with a perfect game and the Springers scratched out just enough offense to defeat Sacred Heart on Friday night in Sacred Heart.

Femrite allowed just one hit, didn't issue a walk and struck out 11.

Cold Spring's Drew VanLoy scored on a fielder's choice in the second and he doubled in Garret Fuchs for the Springers' second run in the third.

Mike Johnson had Sacred Hearts' only hit with two outs in the sixth inning.
