WILLMAR - Brandon Wedel tossed a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and Willmar blasted 10 hits en route to beating the BOLD Mudhens 7-0 on Thursday at Swansson Field.
Wedel threw 116 pitches and retired 11 straight Mudhens - six by strikeout - at one point. The right-hander struck out the side in the fifth to keep his no-hit bid alive.
But Trent Athmann singled leading off the BOLD sixth and Trevor Nissen hit a leadoff single in the seventh.
The Willmar offense scored single runs in three of the first four innings to give Wedel early support. Post 167 then scored four times in the sixth to ice their seventh win of the season.
Brett Swanson highlighted the sixth with a two-run single and Trae Murphy capped the scoring by slugging a double that brought in Josh Tinklenberg.
