MARSHALL -- On a steamy Sunday at Legion Park, the Willmar Legion (13-9) outlasted Marshall 13-8 to earn the No. 1 seed in the district.
The Division II District 7 American Legion Tournament starts Thursday in Alexandria.
Players, coaches and umpires suffered in the heavy air and intense heat, but all made it through nine innings.
Play suffered. There were 12 errors charged, seven against Willmar.
Andrew Bangen and Jake Damhof led Willmar's 17-hit production. Each went 4-for-5 and combined for five RBI.

Marshall got 12 hits, three by Masen Schniable.
Winning pitcher Nathanial Swoyer gave up seven hits over six innings.
