LITCHFIELD -- David Yordi threw two touchdowns passes and produced another TD on a long run to help Litchfield blank Wright County Conference rival Watertown-Mayer 36-0 Thursday in the season opener in prep football for both squads.
The teams played to a scoreless tie after one quarter of play before the Dragons' offense scorched the Royals in the second quarter. Yordi hooked up with Dom Devine on a four-yard pass to open the scoring before scoring on a 42-yard run and firing a five-yard scoring strike to Brian Malepsy.
Yordi completed 11 of 17 passes for 118 yards and also ran 17 times for 93 yards for the Dragons.
The Litchfield defense limited the Royals to zero yards of total offense in the first half on 17 plays.
The Dragons added insurance in the fourth quarter when Bryce Johnson scored on a 26-yard run and Derek Koll returned an interception 32 yards for another score.
