Local Baseball Roundup: Willmar rallies to top ACGC

Post 1639’s VFW1 team needs 2 in the 7th to win 7-6

WILLMAR — The Wilmar VFW1 baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday to beat Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, 7-6.

Willmar led 5-0 heading into the top of the sixth. ACGC scored twice in the sixth and four more times in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead before Post 1639’s rally.

Alex Schramm went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Willmar.

.Jaxon Behm, Logan Straumann, Jack Peterson and Terrell Renne had hits for ACGC.

Granite Falls countered with two runs in the bottom of the first and had a four-run fourth.

Dalton Adolphson led Willmar, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jacob Streed was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Chase Birchard was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

For Granite Falls, Niken Knappel was 2-for-3 with a run, a walk and an RBI.

The Tri-Town 18U team unleashed 16 hits on Granite Falls for the victory late Monday at Kingery Field in Atwater.

Tri-Town, which is made up of players from Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, was led by Josh Kingery. Kingery went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, an RBI and four stolen bases.

Shelby Shoen, Connor Barker, Jack Peterson, Jose Posada and Logan Strauman all had two hits for the Black Sox. Peterson also homered.


Zach Bagley allowed one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking one, to get the victory.

Hunter Wilke was 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base for Granite Falls.
