WILLMAR - Willmar surrendered the first two goals of the game but rallied back to make their matchup with North Iowa a fairly tight game.

Then the third period started.

The Bulls scored four unanswered goals in the first 11 minutes of the period and thumped the WarHawks 7-2 at the Willmar Civic Center.

North Iowa's Jimmy McDermott scored twice and five other Bulls scored goals.

Willmar's Marquez Ginger scored on assists from Sam Voss and Brandon Holt to but the Bulls' lead to one at 5:35 of the second period. Elijah Slagter tied the scored on a power play goal on assists from Dylan Svoboda and Holt at 11:59 of the second.

But North Iowa's Matt Dahlseide scored a late second-period goal and the Bulls' third-period onslaught soon followed.

The teams play again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Civic Center.

Prairie Centre 1

River Lakes were 4-for-4 on the power play and defeated Prairie Centre in the opening round of the Section 6A playoffs on Friday at the Richmond Arena.

Brooke Lemke tallied six points (two goals, four assists), and Hannah Zimmer scored a goal and also had four assists.

McKenzie Cremers scored two goals and Kianna Roeske also scored. Olivia Hainers and Paige Blattner had assists for the Stars.

River Lakes plays section No. 1 seed Fergus Falls at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Fergus Falls.

Prairie Centre peppered the Morris/Benson Area net all evening, but it wasn't until Hunter Fletcher and Brady Miller scored third period goals that PC could breathe easy in a Friday game at the Sauk Centre Civic Arena.

Prairie Centre outshot the Storm 55-16.

Miller scored a first-period goal and Eli Fletcher scored in the second to give PC a 2-0 lead. But MBA's Will Breuer scored on an assist from Tyler Buss at 4:32 of the third to make it a one-goal game.
