KERKHOVEN - The KMS boys basketball team built a huge halftime lead and kept up the pace after the break to down Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 69-48 in a non-conference game on Monday at KMS High School.
The Saints built a 37-13 lead after the first 18 minutes, and four players scored in double figures. Regan Carlson scored 13 points, Josh Peterson had 12 and Weston Gjerde and Ethan Hauge both finished with 11.
BLHS' Trent Weispfennig scored 11 points and Elijah Stifter and Payton Diebold both scored nine.
KMS plays at Dawson-Boyd at 7:30 p.m. today while the Mustangs travel to play Gibbon-Fairfax-Withrop at 7:30 p.m. today.

ACGC wins WCC
The ACGC wrestling team won the West Central Conference Dual Team Tournament on Saturday in Benson.
ACGC defeated Minnewaska 34-24 in the title match. The Falcons defeated MAHACA 46-18 in the semifinals and opened the meet with a 54-14 win over Benson.
Minnewaska defeated Sauk Centre/Melrose 60-30 in the opening round and then defeated United 49-29 in the semifinals.
United won the third-place match 55-21 over MAHACA and Benson claimed the consolation match 45-27 over Sauk Centre/Melrose.

Warriors Hagel honored
Lucas Hagel of Ridgewater College was the MCAC Wrestler of the Week for week nine. Last week, Hagel went 4-0 with two wins by fall to claim the 125-pound championship at the Worthington Open. He also accepted a forfeit that provided the winning margin in Ridgewater's 24-18 win over Northland Community and Technical College.
Prep Volleyball
Grussing a Collins nominee
Gabby Blossom of St. Louis' St. Joseph's Academy was named the winner of the Andi Collins Award as the nation's best prep senior volleyball setter on Jan. 26.
Willmar senior Esther Grussing was the only Minnesota nominee for the Collins Award.
The award honors Collins, a setter at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, who died of breast cancer in 2003, a month shy of her 17th birthday.
