MADISON, Wis. - The Madison Mallards rode a six-run fifth inning to beat the Duluth Huskies 10-7 in Game 1 of the Northwoods League championship on Thursday at Warner Park.
The Mallards lead the best-of-three series 1-0. Game 2 is today at Duluth and Game 3, if necessary, is Saturday at Duluth.
Madison’s Alex Bacon hit his second home run of the postseason and John LaPrise was 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
Kristian Calibuso picked up the win for the Mallards with three innings in relief of starter Taylore Cherry.
