Men's Basketball: Ridgewater improves to 3-0 with weekend sweep

The Warriors beat Dordt JV 84-61 and the Northwestern of Iowa JV 89-84 at Worthington. They play Wednesday at North Dakota State College of Science.

WORTHINGTON — The Ridgewater men’s basketball team continued its good start to the season with a pair of wins in two non-conference games at Minnesota West Technical & Community College.

The Warriors beat the Northwestern of Iowa JV 89-84 on Saturday after knocking off the Dordt JV 84-61 on Friday.

Ridgewater (3-0) tries to improve to 4-0 with a game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. The Warriors then play Central Lakes College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Brainerd.

Against Northwestern, D.J. Brown had 21 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Byntley Theork added 19 points and six rebounds and Cartier Bickley had 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Brown is a 6-foot-1 freshman guard from Pensacola, Florida. Theork is a 5-9 freshman guard from Naples, Fla. Bickley is a 6-4 sophomore from Akron, Ohio.


In the Dordt game, Bickley had 19 points and six rebounds. Zach Johnson had 14 points, Theork had 12 points with four assists, Brown had 10 points and six rebounds and Menelik Garrick added 10 points.

Johnson is a 6-5 freshman from Naples, Fla. Garrick is a 6-6 freshman from Palm Bay, Fla.
