COON RAPIDS - Taylor DeLaughter’s runner at the regulation buzzer rolled off the rim and, after that scare, Central Lakes avoided the upset with 14 overtime points, downing Ridgewater 77-74 Friday in the MCAC state tournament.
Central Lakes, ranked No. 4 in NJCAA Division III, improved to 25-2 overall while the Warriors (20-7) play Northland in the consolation semifinals at 10 a.m. today.
The Warriors battled the Raiders tough throughout, trailing by one at the half and knotting the game at 63 in regulation.
DeLaughter’s 10-foot runner, which would have won the game, bounced in the rim before lipping out.
The Warriors hung tough despite committing 27 turnovers to Central Lakes’ six.
Ridgewater’s Akeem Oglesby hit 7 of 9 3-point shots and finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds.
Nick Kubesh scored 12 points, Marvin Perkins had 10 and Jack Turnbull and DeLaughter both scored seven points.
Central Lakes’ N’Gai Dixon finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
