No. 1-ranked St. Thomas and New London-Spicer graduate Erik Tengwall will play at 11 a.m. Friday in the NCAA Division III men’s basketball Elite Eight in Salem, Va.
Tengwall scored 12 points to help the Tommies (29-1) defeat No. 12-ranked Calvin 63-62 on Saturday. The Tommies face No. 8 Williams, of Massachusetts (26-4) on Friday.
The other quarterfinals games are: Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) (25-5) vs. St. Mary’s (Md.) (27-3); Amherst (Mass.) (27-2) vs. Cabrini (Pa.) (25-5); and North Central (Ill.) (27-3) vs. Middlebury (Vt.)  (25-3).
