GRANITE FALLS -- Mary Rentz kept Morris/Chokio-Alberta ahead down the stretch as the Tigers held off Yellow Medicine East 58-56 Thursday in a West Central South Conference girls basketball game.
Morris/Chokio-Alberta (10-3, 14-5) missed the front end of a one-and-one with nine seconds remaining, then Aimee Johnson drove the ball the length of the court and put up a shot against two defenders, but the ball hit both sides of the rim and bounced out.
Rentz, who had 16 points, made two baskets late to keep the Tigers out front after trailing at halftime. Erin Schieler followed with 12 points and Jenna Nelson had 11.
Emily Baker and Angie Scheffler netted 16 points each and Aimee Johnson pumped in 12 more to pace the Sting (6-7, 9-8).
