WILLMAR-The Granite City Lumberjacks flexed their muscles to overpower the Willmar WarHawks in a 5-0 game Wednesday night.

The Lumberjacks opened up the game with a trio of goals in the first period, including a pair from Braden Altena who extended his team-leading point total to 49. Not only did the Lumberjacks hold a 3-0 lead but they also held a an 11-2 shot advantage to set the tone.

Jordan Olson scored a power play goal two minutes, 56 seconds into the second period to make it a 4-0 game.

Late in the second period, Granite City defenseman Sean Salz hit WarHawk forward Brandon Holt into the boards, yielding a five-minute major for boarding. The hit forced a stoppage in play when Holt was unable to get off the ice on his own power. First responders were able to turn Holt from his front to his back and paramedics helped Holt off the ice with a stretcher.

The game resumed following Holt's departure and the Lumberjacks added a third period goal to make it a 5-0 final.
