NEW LONDON - Megan Thorson and a strong defensive showing were the keys to New London-Spicer’s 49-40 win over Litchfield at home on Tuesday night.
The senior forward’s 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists were all team highs for the Wildcats on Senior Night. Thorson was one of four seniors honored along with Lindsay Vagle, Alyssa Fredrick and Mariah Adams.
Erin Tebben backed up Thorson’s outing with eight points and five boards for NLS.
Litchfield had the deficit down to just two at halftime, and crept within one point with around seven minutes to go.
But stellar free-throw shooting and ramping up the defensive intensity helped the Wildcats clinch the win.

Macy Huhner’s 13 points were essential in keeping the Dragons close throughout the contest. They play Dassel-Cokato at home Friday for their next game.
NLS, meanwhile, will travel to Watertown-Mayer to take on the 17-4 Royals, looking for revenge for a 57-46 loss the Royals handed them on Jan. 21.
