NLS wins Class AAA state football title

MINNEAPOLIS - New London-Spicer dethroned three-time defending state champion Glencoe-Silver Lake, winning the Class AAA state title 28-21 Saturday at the Metrodome.

MINNEAPOLIS - New London-Spicer dethroned three-time defending state champion Glencoe-Silver Lake, winning the Class AAA state title 28-21 Saturday at the Metrodome.

New London-Spicer finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record under coach Dan Essler.

Glencoe-Silver Lake (13-1) had only given up 32 points all season and had posted eight shutouts.

New London-Spicer trailed 21-20 late in the game when quarterback Jayme Moten connected with Aaron Jenny on a 4-yard touchdown pass and the same two hooked up for the two-point conversion.
