WILLMAR — The Willmar Stingers won another one from the Waterloo Bucks and the star of the show was Steven Brooks.
Willmar beat Waterloo 4-0 before 1,112 fans Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Brooks tossed eight shutout innings. The freshman right-hander from California Polytechnic State University struck out six and walked one, allowing four hits. He threw 98 pitches. He improved his record to 2-0 and has a 2.12 earned-run average. In 17 innings, he has struck out 14 and walked five. His other pitching win came July at Bismarck.
Waterloo mounted a serious threat in the ninth, loading the bases. John Bezdecik struck out the side in the ninth, allowing two hits. Bezdicek, a left-hander from Plymouth and Kennesaw State University, is 2-1 with three saves. He has a 2.53 ERA with 20 strikeouts and four walks in 10-⅔ innings.
Will Safford led the Stingers offensively, going 2-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, two runs and two RBIs. Safford Safford is a second baseman from Louisiana State University who was batting ninth Tuesday. He’s hitting .241 with a .353 on-base percentage in 19 games.

Willmar has won five straight and beaten the Bucks in four of those, including Saturday and Sunday in Iowa.
Waterloo and Willmar conclude their three-game series in Willmar at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
