NWL: Waterloo clips Stingers

WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Willmar Stingers scored four batters into the game, but fell silent the rest of the way, losing to the Waterloo Bucks 2-1 on Monday at Riverfront Stadium.

WATERLOO, Iowa - The Willmar Stingers scored four batters into the game, but fell silent the rest of the way, losing to the Waterloo Bucks 2-1 on Monday at Riverfront Stadium.
With the game delayed almost an hour due to rain, Sean Beesley and Reagan Fowler singled in the top of the first and Ky Parrott drove in Beesley in a fielder’s choice.
But Waterloo starter Jordan Desguin settled down and only allowed two more hits through seven innings and struck out five.
Bucks’ reliever Nathan Spielvogel recorded a two-inning save, with the only blemish a Tyler Leffler single in the ninth.
Waterloo scored both its runs in the fifth on a Tyler Selesky double and Zack Soria groundout.
Willmar’s Garrett Anderson pitched five innings and took the loss.
Nikolay Uherek, in his Stingers debut, and Tyler House combined for three scoreless innings of relief.
The Stingers fell to 4-2 in the Northwoods League North Division. They play 7:05 p.m. today at home against the Madison Mallards.
