PAYNESVILLE -- Keely Meagher's two-run home run was all Paynesville needed to get past Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 6-1 in the first round of the Section 6AA softball tournament Monday.
Meagher ripped a line drive over the fence in left field that also scored Taylor Haag to give the Bulldogs (16-4) a 2-0 lead.
Whitney Woehler held the Thunder to one run on eight hits in going the distance to earn the win for the Bulldogs.
Paynesville advances to a second-round contest with St. Cloud Cathedral at 4:30 p.m. today at Melrose. She struck out three and didn't walk a batter.
The Bulldogs had only four hits, but took advantage of six walks and three LPGE (12-8) errors.
