LITCHFIELD - Litchfield's Josh Prahl ran for a fourth-quarter score and threw for another touchdown as the Dragons' broke a deadlock and defeated Holdingford 27-13 in a Section 6AAA game on Tuesday.

The Dragons, the section's No. 4 seed, plays top-seed Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 7 p.m. Saturday at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.

Prahl scored the game's first score on a one-yard run and Logan Nelson ran two yards for a score as Litchfield took a 13-0 lead into halftime.

But Holdingford struck for two third-quarter scores to knot the game.

Prahl put the Dragons back on top with a three-yard run and then threw six yards to Brandon Nelson for a TD that put the game out of reach.

BOLD 47, Cedar Mountain 0

BOLD put up 34 points on their first seven plays to coast to a first round victory in the Section 5A tournament Tuesday night.

Hayden Tersteeg was key to the early dominance, turning two long runs into touchdowns in the opening frame. He finished with three carries for 131 yards.

While the offense was outstanding, the defense was arguably more impressive, limiting Cedar Mountain to only nine yards of total offense.

Special teams were strong as well as Austin Einerson, who didn't register a carry in the game, returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown.

BOLD's next opponent will be fifth-seeded Canby. The Warriors will host the game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Canby 21, Dawson-Boyd 7

The Lancer defense brought Dawson-Boyd's season to an unceremonious end.

After a first-quarter touchdown run by Bentley Boike, the Blackjacks couldn't get anything going on offense. They averaged less than 3.5 yards per carry, threw for just 30 yards and committed three turnovers.

After Dawson jumped out to a 7-0 lead, Canby's Adam Durfee handled the rest of the scoring. He ran for a 24-yard touchdown in the first quarter, then scored from 59 yards out in both the third and fourth.

He finished the game with 217 yards.

Section 4A

KMS 8, LP/HT 6

The Saints won their Section 4A opener in double overtime on Tuesday when Dylan Rudningen scored on a four-yard run, Brandin Dahl ran in the two-point conversion and the KMS defense stuffed Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity's two-point attempt after its TD in the second OT on a soggy night in Lester Prairie.

Despite the rough conditions, neither team turned the ball over.

The Saints ran for 180 yards, with Dahl picked up 170 of them on a bruising 41 carries.

Dahl also caught two passes and made five solo tackles.

The Saints get the section's top seed Minneapolis North at 1 p.m. Saturday in Minneapolis. The Polars, 8-0, have been ranked one of Class A's top team the entire season. They are currently No. 2 behind Minneota.

Dylan Graves scored a touchdown with 1:30 remaining to help Upsala/Swanville narrowly avoid the upset.

With the score tied at 20, the Patriots ended up going for two following the Graves score and it paid off, as quarterback Myron Ripplinger ran it in for the final points.

The Jaguars, who lost 41-0 to the Patriots Oct. 14, were led by Isaiah Gilbert, who accounted for all three of their touchdowns.

He returned the game's opening kick 81 yards for a score, then added touchdown runs of two and 45 yards.

Max Weidner threw three touchdowns on four completions as Paynesville defeated Minnewaska in the Section 5AA opener Tuesday night.

Weidner put the Bulldogs on top with a seven-yard pass to Grant Fuchs in the opening quarter and that was the only score at halftime. Paynesville opened it up in the second half, though, scoring 22 points on three touchdowns and a safety.

Ryan Christianson scored the only touchdown of the quarter for the Lakers from 69 yards out. He had a monster game, running 33 times for 197 yards but it wasn't quite enough.

Weidner also did some damage with his legs, carrying the ball seven times for 69 yards. The real star on the ground for the Bulldogs, though, was Gavin Stanger. He ended the night with 167 yards on 16 carries.

Paynesville will now move on to face No. 2 Osakis at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Osakis.
