KERKHOVEN -- A balk allowed the winning run to score from third base with two outs in the eighth inning as Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg nipped Benson 3-2 in a non-conference game on Friday.
Marc Beckman was on first base and Aaron Zimmer on third when Beckman took off for second as Benson pitcher Luke Schwartz came to a set position on the pitcher's mound. Schwartz then was called for a balk, allowing Zimmer to score.
Schwartz took the loss, despite pitching 7Xc strong innings, allowing only four hits and two earned runs.
Zimmer earned a no-decision after pitching six innings and allowing two earned runs. He also singled and stole two bases.
Jonah Johnson earned the win for KMS (10-6), pitching two shutout innings.

Brook Guest had two hits for the Braves (2-13).
