WINSTED -- Litchfield's baseball team felt the negative effects Thursday of its basketball team's successful season.

The Dragons, which have several basketball players on their roster, had troubles on the mound and in the field and fell 9-0 to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted on Thursday.

Litchfield's hoops players made a successful run state tournament run but it has cost the baseball team practice time, said coach Jeff Wollin.

Against HLWW, the Dragons committed six errors and their pitchers walked six. HLWW made one error and had no walks.

"We wanted to cut down on our walks and errors and we obviously didn't do a very good job of it," Wollin said. "It's early and our guys are still getting going."

Litchfield's Austin Jones, Zach Kinny, Dave Brown and Trevor Park had Litchfield's four hits.

The Dragons have the weekend off before traveling to play at Mound-Westonka at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"They'll have some time off and hopefully everybody will come back clear and focused and ready to get ready to play baseball," Wollin said.
