BIRD ISLAND - Logan Sandgren continued his brilliant playoff pitching run with a five-inning perfect game on Saturday in BOLD’s 15-0 win over Comfrey/Cedar Mountain in the opening round of the Section 5A playoffs.
Sandgren struck out 10 of the 15 batters he faced and he threw just 63 pitches for his first perfect game.
The left-hander threw two no-hitters last spring during the Warriors’ march to the Class A state championship, and he threw a no-hitter against Minnewaska earlier this spring, giving him four no-hit victories the last two seasons.
Regardless what Sandgren did on the mound Saturday, he wasn’t going to have much trouble with CCM after the Warriors put up seven runs in the bottom of the first.
Tyler Lothert was 3-for-3 and he drove in five Warriors runs and Riley Kramer was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Ben Steffel hit with a run-scoring double, Lane Stadther was 1-for-2, driving in two runs and scoring once, and Max Buchtel was 2-for-3 and scored a run.
The Warriors had 11 singles among their 12 hits but those singles were enough since they put themselves in scoring position with seven stolen bases.
BOLD has won seven in a row since dropping two in a row in midseason. The 15-2 Warriors, the North No. 2 seeds, play North No. 3-seed Sleepy Eye-St. Mary’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Bird Island in the second round of the section playoffs.
