BRAINERD -- A 4-2 Willmar lead didn't last long.
Brainerd scored 15 runs in the second inning and handed the Cardinals a 22-5, five-inning Cen-tral Lakes Conference baseball loss Thursday.
The Cardinals (1-7, 2-10) made the most of two walks, four wild pitches and an error to score four runs in the first inning. One wild pitch plated the Cardinals' first run, then Andrew Bangen's ground ball and a Brainerd throwing error scored two more. Daniel Statem singled in the fourth run.
The Cardinals sent nine batters to the plate in the inning.
The Warriors (6-2, 8-2) answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, then exploded for 15 in the next inning. Alex Rohde, ninth in Brainerd's batting order, hit a two-run home run to highlight the rally.
