EDEN PRAIRIE - Willmar was taken out of the Section 2AAA playoffs Friday when No. 7-seeded Chanhassen upended the No. 10 Cardinals 6-4.
No information on the game was provided to the Tribune at press time Friday night.
Willmar, which might still try to play New London-Spicer and/or Fergus Falls, is 2-14.
In other first-round action Friday, No. 12 New Prague stunned No. 5 Hutchinson 3-1, No. 8 Waconia beat No. 9 Buffalo 5-4 and No. 6 Mankato West upended No. 11 Mankato East 6-1.
Then in the second round, No. 1 Minnetonka beat Waconia 5-2, No. 2 Eden Prairie toppled Chanhassen 8-1, No. 3 Chaska blanked Mankato West 4-0 and No. 4 Shakopee 10-run ruled New Prague 11-1.
