WILLMAR - Hutchinson got its offense going early, thanks in part to Willmar errors, and the Tigers defeated the Cardinals 11-2 in a non-conference game on Monday at Baker Field.

The Tigers scored five in each of the first two innings, and pitcher Thomas Eltgroth allowed just three hits and struck out seven.

“The defense fell apart and we gave up six unearned runs,” said Cardinals head coach Mark Stier. “Hutchinson came out hitting hard and, throw in a few errors and a few bleeders and we’re down 10-0.”

Gannon Jordahl and Jayden Fleck both had two hits and drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Austin Smith, Cole Hagen and Adam Nibaur had the Cardinals’ hits, with Smith driving in one run and scoring the other.
