Prep Baseball: MACCRAY takes hard hit

SACRED HEART - After a promising start to the Section 3A playoffs, MACCRAY’s fortunes took a serious shot on Tuesday.
Springfield’s Carter Erickson allowed just a run on three hits while striking out six in an 11-1, six-inning win over the Wolverines.
MACCRAY roared into the semifinals with an 8-1 win over Central Minnesota Christian School and a 4-1 victory over Lac qui Parle Valley, the North subsection’s top seed, on Saturday.
But Erickson proved too strong for the MACCRAY bats on Tuesday. Connor Cronen was 2-for-3 and Jack Dykema had the Wolverines’ other hit.
The loss send MACCRAY into rematch with LQPV in the loser’s bracket second round at 5 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart.
Also on Tuesday in Sacred Heart, Windom downed Canby 4-1 and will play on Thursday against the winner of the Edgerton-Adrian game, which was postponed by rain and will be played today.
Canby will play that game’s winner at 7 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart.
