Prep Baseball: McIver strong on hill in Lakers’ win

GLENWOOD - Matthew McIver pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out eight as Minnewaska defeated Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 4-1 in a West Central Conference game on Monday.
Michael Gruber was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Austin Versteeg was 2-for-3 with two RBI to pace the Lakers hitting attack.
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City starting pitcher Derek Dengerud tossed five innings giving up three runs and walking four in the loss.
Cullen Hoffman mustered the lone extra-base hit for the Falcons with a double.
Both teams play today as Minnewaska travels to play Benson at 4 p.m. and at Paynesville at 8p.m. ACGC plays its final regular-season game, hosting Sauk Centre at 5 p.m.

Logan Nissen led BOLD’s 18-hit attack with a home run, a double and five runs batted in as the Warriors won a West Central Conference game on Monday in Bird Island.
BOLD’s Lane Stadther was 4-for-4 and drove in two runs and Ben Steffel was 3-for-4 and had three RBIs. Max Buchtel had two hits, drove in two runs and he scored three times.
The Warriors’ Trent Athmann and Hunter Evenson teamed up on a three-hitter, allowing just one unearned run and striking out five.
Adam Kilibarda, Andrew Peters and Garrett Christianson had Montevideo’s hits.
