GRANITE FALLS — Capitalizing on Yellow Medicine East ’s miscues, Lac qui Parle Valley knocked off another of the Camden Conference’s top teams on Thursday.

Two days after beating MACCRAY 2-1, the Eagles built a 6-0 lead en route to an 8-3 victory against the Sting at Richter Field.

LQPV started the game by drawing three straight walks, which brought on a pitching change for YME. By the end of the first, the Eagles led 1-0 after Blake Wollschlager was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The second saw LQPV capitalize on two errors to score a trio of runs. Dain Mortenson reached home on a Landon Schirm double. Two more runs came across with a two-out single by Avery Wittnebel, which scored Schirm and Carter Amland. Mortenson brought in two more runs in the third with a double to the left-field wall that made the score 6-0.

Wittnebel was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI to lead the Eagles’ offense while also striking out six in six innings to get the win on the mound.
