WILLMAR - The Willmar baseball team hit the ball pretty well and were efficient in getting around the base paths.
But six errors negated just about everything positive the Cardinals were able to product against BOLD on Monday at Taunton Stadium.
Willmar’s defensive miscues allowed the Warriors to score 12 runs in the fourth and fifth innings and they left town with a 13-8 non-conference victory.
“We hit well, we pitched well enough to win,” said Willmar head coach Mark Stier. “We just didn’t play any defense.”
The Cardinals struck for five runs in the second inning and they led 5-1 after three.

But three Willmar errors, three walks and three BOLD base hits brought in the seven runs, and Logan Sandgren hit a two-run triple and Trevor Nissen clubbed a two-run home run in the sixth to make it 13-6.
BOLD’s Trent Athmann had two hits, drove in two and stole four bases.
Willmar’s Tyler Stegeman, Patrick Courtney and Cole Hagen all had two hits, Courtney, Hagen and Austin Rambow all drove in two runs.
The Cardinals play a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader today at Alexandria beginning at 4 p.m.
