OLIVIA - With two late chances to secure its first win, the Willmar baseball team couldn’t close the deal at BOLD Monday, losing 4-3 in eight innings.
After tying the game with a two-out RBI double, Jordan Sagedahl came around to score on a Hayden Tersteeg single, giving the Warriors the come-from-behind win.
Willmar, which also entered the seventh up a run, took the lead back in the top of the eighth, when Noah Vreeman singled to bring home Brayden Sunder, who’d gotten on with a double.
It was the second one-run loss in three games for the 0-7 Cardinals.
“Sometimes that first win is the toughest one to get,” Willmar Coach Tom DeBoer said. “We’re just kind of snake-bitten right now.”
Willmar is at Alexandria Thursday. BOLD, which improved to 3-5, hosts Montevideo today.
