Wicht’s 23 points push Blackjacks to Camden North win

DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team had its best offensive output of the season on Monday, leading to a home win over MACCRAY.

The Blackjacks won the Camden Conference North division contest, 87-62.

Holding a 39-35 lead at halftime, Dawson-Boyd nearly reached the half-century mark in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines 48-27.

Pacing the Blackjacks was Keegon Wicht, who had 23 points, eight assists and six rebounds. He hit five 3-pointers in the game.

Brayson Boike (18), Levi Olson (14) and Aiden Swenson (14) also scored in double figures for Dawson-Boyd. Swenson also tacked on seven rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Leading MACCRAY in scoring was Isaac Post with 20 points, followed by 14 from Jordan Warne. Brooks Asche finished with eight points and seven rebounds, and Isaac Strommer dished out 10 assists in the loss.

With four home games this week, Dawson-Boyd (7-2) squares off with Minneota on Tuesday, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Thursday and Southwest Minnesota Christian on Saturday.

MACCRAY (5-7) travels to Prinsburg on Thursday to face Central Minnesota Christian.

Down by five at halftime, Lac qui Parle Valley outscored Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 38-23 in the second half on the way to a Camden Conference North victory at Madison.

Eagles sharpshooting senior Kaiden Allpress hit six 3-pointers for a game-high 28 points. William Giese added nine points for LQPV, which moved to 2-2 in Camden play.

Gage Thorson had 10 points to lead the Fighting Saints. Isaac Rudningen and Jared Cortez each added eight points for KMS.

The Eagles host Renville County West on Thursday while the Fighting Saints head to Dawson-Boyd on Thursday.

Lakeview remains undefeated following a road win over Camden South rival Yellow Medicine East at Granite Falls.

Taiven Isaackson led a trio of Lakers in double figures with 23 points, hitting all six of his team’s 3-pointers. Nathan Fenske had 18 points, followed by 12 points and eight rebounds from Clayton Kosel.

Nikson Knapper and Bryce Sneller each had 12 points for the Sting, with Sneller getting a double-double with 13 rebounds. Isaac Jimenez finished with 11 points and five assists.

YME looks to end its four-game losing streak Thursday at home against Canby.
