Prep Boys Basketball Roundup: Wildcats edge Benson

NEW LONDON -- Jaden Hanson hit a free throw with 30 seconds left for the lead and a Benson shot in the final seconds was off target as New London-Spicer won its first game of the season, 53-52, on Thursday at NLS High School.

Jackson Ness led the Wildcats with 13 points and Jacob Klavetter had six points and 10 rebounds.

Mitchell Halvorson had nine points, Derrick Laudenbach had six points and both players had eight rebounds.

Benson’s Layton Connelly scored a game-high 22 points and Adam Lindahl had 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

The Wildcats plays host to Glencoe-Silver Lake at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
